The American Heart Association (AHA) has developed what''s called Life''''s Simple 4- sets of factors that can help predict and protect a person''s heart health. "Life''''s Simple4" consists of four "adjustable behaviors" - which are things you can do to reduce your chances of heart disease, these are: quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, eating healthy, and physical activity.
Doctors explained that following the above four behaviors reduces the risk of death from stroke or cardiovascular disease (CVD).
"Only about 2% of people in the United States and other countries meet all the ideal requirements for these four factors," explains Dr. Chiang Gao, associate professor of nutrition science and director of the Laboratory of Food Epidemiology at Pennsylvania State University.
This study aims to see whether adhering to these four steps over time will reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in the future.
Dr. Gao and his team examined the data of 74,701 Chinese adults who participated in the Kiloan study. Study participants answered questionnaires about their general health and participated in various clinical tests three times between 2006 and 2010, and the hope of the four was less likely to develop heart disease and stroke At a rate of 79%.
