Under the slogan “Toward a recovery from cancer and incurable diseases in Syria”, the activities of the first Molecular Genetics Conference were launched by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Damascus under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bassam Ibrahim and the Syriatel Company, in the presence of Dr. Nizar Wehbe Yazji, Minister of Health and Dr. Salwa Al Abdullah, Minister of State for Affairs Local organizations, Dr. Abdel-Qader Hassan, head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, and the Secretary of the Damascus University branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Dr. Khaled al-Halbouni, at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

The conference witnesses extensive scientific and research participation and qualitative specialized lectures on genetic pathology, the practice of precision medicine and genetics, and includes more than 20 lectures and a number of research and studies presented in “7” scientific sessions over a period of three days.

In a speech to Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, in which he said: “I am pleased to open this important medical conference held by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Damascus and in the presence of specialist doctors from the Ministry of Health, and from all Syrian universities from medical colleges, and I am happy to have some specialist doctors in this field from Syrian origin, but present in the country of expatriation, where they present scientific research papers in this field, and I am happy to attend graduate students from all medical colleges in the universities of the country.

Minister Bassam Ibrahim emphasized that the convening of the conference represented a qualitative shift in medical education from clinical practices to an interest in genetic material science and recent promising partial technologies that support traditional diagnostic methods and provide all that is new globally about it.

In turn, Minister of Health Dr. Nizar Yazji said: "We noticed through the conference that the scientific stature located abroad began to come to Syria to show that Syria is steadfast and that the scientific continuity is fully present, and we participated in this conference because there is integration between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Health, this integration to serve citizens From a medical point of view, we in Syria are constantly working for the citizen. "

Conference Chairman Dr. Mohamed Iyad Al-Shatti stated that the aim of the conference is to present the latest treatment developments and to put scientific solutions to face the current medical challenges, noting the wide contribution made by a number of Syrian doctors who have recorded scientific research in this field at the international level, most notably the two doctors, Yahya Al-Shamali and Nadia Al-Saqti, a graduate of Damascus University They raised the name of Syria in international forums and conferences, and they also had a major role in organizing this conference, preparing its scientific program, and participating in it.

Dr. Mazen King, a member of the organizing committee of the conference, emphasized that the conference lectures focus on the definition of molecular genetic pathology and genetic material and its relationship to diseases, especially cancer, indicating that the conference is the first of its kind in Syria in terms of access to the latest technologies and the future of scientific research in this field.

The Director General of the Supreme Commission for Scientific Research, Dr. Majd Jamali, pointed out the importance of disseminating the culture of this science among doctors and graduate students and explaining the importance of molecular analyzes, which in turn support the decision to treat cancer patients and other genetic diseases.
