Vitamins, honey, and ironing are the most common types of native medicine that many patients trade in treating liver disease in Saudi Arabia. However, the use of this type of medication is dangerous and unhelpful and may lead to an advanced stage of the disease. And Brigadier General Malfi bin Mubarak Al-Otaibi, a consultant for liver and digestive diseases at the Armed Forces Hospital in Riyadh, explained to Al-Eqtisadiya that many citizens take the common saying: “Ask an expert and do not ask a doctor” in a phenomenon of what is known as “modern medicine”. The councils, he says, to transmit such native methods of treating yolks or jaundice caused by infection with viral liver diseases of the types B and C, indicating that this is a common mistake, as about 90 percent of people with yolks Or jaundice, the pain will disappear automatically after several weeks, whether the patient was taken as a treatment or not due to the nature of the “yolk” phenomenon, which is one of the symptoms of the disease and not the disease itself.
Al-Otaibi explained that resorting to modern medicine and visiting a doctor is the best solution in dealing with this type of disease, as it is possible through this to stand on the situation and the proper diagnosis that is half of the treatment, in addition to its benefit in early detection of the disease, adding that resorting to folk medicine It is possible that the disease may worsen until it reaches a late stage, pointing out that the chance in the success of some experiments for medication in traditional medicine is not a justification for proceeding with medication with it.
