Males of Aedes aegypti absorb nectar and its females .. Blood Laboratory technicians and endemic pathologists face a difficult test before reaching a proper diagnosis of Zika, which is transmitted by a single mosquito that scientists called the Egyptian “Aedes a”. Meanwhile, the head of the Virus and Molecular Analysis Department at King Fahd Hospital in Jizan, Professor Zaki Munawar, revealed to "Okaz" that the laboratory diagnosis via the (PCR) determines the type of virus that results from the bite of the "Aedes Aegypti" mosquito, known as Aedes aegypti, indicating that Most doctors in different countries of the world that incubate mosquitoes that transmit the virus may make mistakes in diagnosis due to the similarity of symptoms between the four diseases (dengue, Zika, yellow fever and Chikungunya). Indicating that Aedes aegypti is a delicate insect, with a round head that carries a pair of compound eyes and a pair of antennae. Females feed on human and animal blood until they lay eggs, while males absorb nectar and sugar solutions, so they transmit many diseases to humans and animals.

No treatment, no vaccine

Professor Munawar added that dengue fever, which is transmitted by mosquitoes (AIDS), is the fastest disease that can be transmitted by mosquitoes, and it is a viral infection and symptoms of the disease appear within a period ranging from 3 days to 14 days after the infectious bite. As for Zika, it is produced from a virus transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, and there is currently no treatment for the disease or vaccine against it, and the best way to prevent it is to protect against mosquito bites, and the dangerous one in Zika exposes fetuses to deform the heads without showing any symptoms on pregnant women.

Brain inflammation

He added that yellow fever is an acute hemorrhagic fever that occurs due to a virus and is transmitted by mosquitoes, and the word yellow refers to the jaundice that affects some patients. As for chikungunya fever, it is considered a viral disease that arises quickly and also spreads by mosquitoes, and in rare cases it may lead to viral encephalitis infection and then death. Professor Munawar concluded by saying that the main symptoms of the four diseases are high temperature, skin rash, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, and vomiting. Stressing that the only way to control the disease is to control the mosquitoes that cause a lot of human suffering, as it kills more than a million in the world annually.
