diabetes to the economic condition
A scientific research team is inspecting the neighborhoods of Jeddah to carry out a specialized study on finding solutions by means of individual and joint research that contribute to preventing or reducing the incidence of diabetes, as the relationship of disease to economic status is studied. Suhad Bahjari, the supervisor of the research team, indicated that from this standpoint, a field survey is currently being conducted on a random sample of Jeddah residents for one of the group''s research aimed at studying the prevalence of different types of diabetes, and its relationship to lifestyle and diet, with the participation of 40 students from King Abdulaziz University.
The head of the research team stated that in the field survey, physical measurements are taken and blood sugar level is measured, and questionnaires for the research are filled out.
The research aims to study the geographical distribution and the incidence of diabetes of all kinds among the residents of the Jeddah region, with a study of the disparity between the sexes, different age groups, ethnic origins, and the correlation between the geographical distribution of the different types of diabetes.
