Awareness activities and programs on the occasion of the 2017 World Diabetes Day, the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit headed by Dr. University Medical City at King Saud University, in coordination with the Public Relations headed by Professor Abdulrahman Al-Mansour and the Deanship of Student Affairs for Sports Affairs of the University, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Badran Al-Omar, President of the University, by organizing a number of events to educate the community about diabetes, its complications and the importance of early treatment.
These activities included awareness days on disease and its complications, in the outpatient lobby, and the unit also organized a running marathon for men, women and children, not only for diabetics, but also for non-diabetics, and more than 100 contestants participated in the race in the presence and participation of the General Director of the Medical City, Dr. And the Executive Director of Health Affairs, Dr. Faisal Al-Saif, the Executive Director of Patient Affairs, Professor Mutlaq Al-Rasheed, the Medical Director, Dr. Abdullah Al-Saqqa, and a number of department heads and doctors.
An educational program was also prepared in the main hall of the College of Medicine in the presence of the directors and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Khaled Fouda, in which many speakers and experts were consultants of endocrinology and diabetes from various major hospitals in Riyadh, during which various topics on diabetes and its complications were discussed, with a number of teaching hours Continuous accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
There were also other activities under the umbrella of King Saud University Medical City from the University Center for Diabetes under the management of colleague Dr. Abdullah Al-Quwaihis, which was an awareness campaign for schools about diabetes for a full month, and an educational program was also held at the Radison Hotel in Riyadh.
