Warning students from promoting exam times, d. Al Sharqi: Captagon destroys brain and nerve cells and causes permanent mental disability. The National Committee for Drug Control is currently working to intensify awareness of the dangers of drugs, especially Captagon, whose promoters frequently deceive students during exams, as they deceive students and deceive them that it helps them study.
The committee, in coordination with the General Administration for Drug Control and the Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health in Riyadh, and a number of competent authorities seek to develop a joint action plan to educate students and enlighten them about the tragedies that drugs cause and expose the methods used by their promoters.
In this context, Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Sharqi, consultant psychiatrist and advisor to the National Committee for Drug Control, appealed to his students to stay away from taking amphetamine, "Captagon," which is no less dangerous than abuse of "heroin" or "hashish", as he indicated that consuming it leads to the destruction of centers The central nerves in the brain, which results in permanent disability, violent aggressive behavior, and persecutory disorders, as well as loss of mental capacity in a short period.
Because of the danger of Captagon, a specialized team has been formed to subject the phenomenon of abuse of white pills and to prepare a thorough study on the substance "Captagon" amphetamine, its effect, and its danger to the abuser and the accelerated destruction of brain cells and increase the number of addicts to it.
Dr. Al-Sharqi indicated that the Poisons Center in the Eastern Province and Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health in Dammam prepared an analytical study on the danger of Captagon, and it became clear that Captagon contains “amphetamine and methamphetamine,” which have a negative stimulant effect on the central nervous system.
Where the study proved that they destroy the nerve cells that secrete adrenaline, dopamine and serotonin, and this negative effect lasts for a long period of up to three years.
He emphasized that the toxicity of amphetamine referred to is due to the ability of this compound to produce oxidizing metabolites such as epinephrine. And hydroxy dopamine, in addition to dihydroxy tryptamine, which has a toxic effect that results in the destruction of the central nerves in the brain.
He pointed out that there are other substances, such as ephedrine, cathine and cathinone, which are added to the amphetamine (Captagon), which increase the availability of neurochemical transmitters and products that lead to an increase in the destruction of the end of the central nerves of serotonin, which results in permanent mental disability even after the amphetamine is withdrawn from the body from the body. It increases the period of stay of the addict in clinics and treatment centers, and increases the period of admission, and thus increases the waiting period for addicts who were unable to enter those centers.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Sharqi explained that some other substances are added to Captagon, such as quinine, which studies have shown that it is one of the substances that prevent the breakdown of amphetamine in the liver, which increases the strength and duration of the effect of amphetamine, as it reaches the central nerve cells at a very high concentration and its effect remains for a long period of time that leads to a destructive force For central nerves and permanent disability, as the manufacture of such a preparation makes it vulnerable to chemical pollutants such as ephedrine and some chemical elements that are used as stimulating agents that increase the speed of the preparation reaction. The substances mixed with Captagon are known to cause damage to central nerve cells, which results in Parkinson''s in addition to damage to the tissues of the gastrointestinal tract. Liver and bone marrow causing gastric ulcers, cirrhosis, jaundice and anemia.
Dr. Al-Sharqi families and parents show that it is clear to users of Captagon and have signs indicative of it such as gossip, nervousness, anxiety, trembling hands, increased sweating, dryness of the nose and mouth, causing a feeling of persecution and excessive suspicion towards the family and others, and Captagon users become sensitive to some words and phrases that some colleagues or relatives utter and interpreted by users. Misplaced Captagon leads most of them to commit crimes such as murder and suicide.
Captagon pills are manufactured in suspicious and secret places in some countries and are not subject to any specifications.
Al-Sharqi urged the students'' parents to follow up and monitor their sons and daughters indirectly to prevent them from falling into this problem, explain the seriousness of its abuse, and warn them of the consequences of falling into it. Calling teachers and student counselors to contribute to educating students and enlightening them of the correct methods of memorization and warning against falling into the clutches of drugs.
It is noteworthy that drugs are one of the biggest problems that the peoples of the world suffer from because of their severe health, economic, religious and social risks. All religions and all countries of the world have agreed to fight this scourge by all means and methods.
