The Saudi Minister of Health, Hamad Al-Manea, recently issued a warning to all governmental and private hospitals in various regions of the Kingdom, to adhere to the controls and instructions communicated to it by the ministry related to special procedures for dealing with pregnant women, indicating that the ministry will apply severe penalties for transgressors and violators in the application of instructions, up to closure The facility and the deportation of the doctors involved after interrogating them, and applying the punishment against them if they abort pregnant women for any reason.

The Saudi minister''s directives are consistent with the Ministry of Health statistics, which revealed that 51.2 thousand abortions occurred during the past year, with an increase of 26.9% over the past six years.

Al-Mane ''called on the hospital administration to address the ministry in cases of abortion before it takes place to take the necessary formation of reliable committees to allow the abortion of the fetus or not in response to the decision of the Council of Senior Scholars notified to the Ministry earlier, and to achieve what was included in the executive regulations of the system for practicing the profession of human medicine and dentistry, where no It is permissible to abort a pregnancy during its various stages, except for a legitimate justification and within very narrow limits.

Dr. Al-Manea pointed out that the decision of the Council of Senior Scholars stipulated that if the pregnancy is in the first phase, which is a period of forty days, and aborting it is a legitimate interest or expels an expected harm, it is permissible to abort it. As for aborting it during this period for fear of hardship in raising the children, or for fear of being unable to afford the costs of their living or education, or for the sake of their future, or being satisfied with what the spouses have of children, this is not permissible.

Even if the fetus is a leech

The decision stipulates that it is not permissible to abort a pregnancy if it is a clot or chew until a reliable medical committee decides that its continuation is a danger to the safety of its mother, and she fears perishing from its continuation. It is permissible to abort it after exhausting all means to avoid these dangers, but after the third development and after completing 4 months of pregnancy It is not permissible to abort it until a group of reliable, expert doctors has decided that the fetus’s remaining in the mother’s womb causes her to die, after all means have been exhausted to save her life.

On the same level, a Saudi specialist in obstetrics, gynecology, infertility and endocrinology called for the necessity of forming an urgent committee consisting of several governmental and non-governmental agencies to find out the reasons for the high incidence of miscarriage among women in Saudi Arabia, compared to the internationally known percentage, which is set at 15%.

The consultant gynecology, obstetrics, infertility and endocrinology, Dr. Hamad Al-Sufyan has accurate statistics of miscarriage cases and delayed pregnancy in Saudi Arabia, explaining that there is a noticeable increase in its percentage from the rest of the world, and Dr. Al-Sufyan stressed the need to form a committee to find out the causes of the high incidence of miscarriage and sterility in Saudi Arabia, so that it studies the environmental conditions and imported and produced food Locally, with the aim of identifying the substances that cause this increase, especially foods that are chemically treated, or to which materials are given to increase weight, to speed production, or to preserve them.

Half of the cases are idiopathic

Al-Sufyan pointed out that every 20% of early miscarriages are usually in the first three months of pregnancy, 50% of the causes of miscarriage are unknown, 40% are due to genetic imbalances, and only 10% of them are known, such as immunological or hormonal reasons, taking medications, or high The mother''s temperature, genetic imbalances, or hereditary traits, such as the occurrence of abnormalities in the sperm or egg composition, or due to an ovarian cyst, in addition to the fact that a large percentage of Saudi women suffer from an increase in weight that leads to poor ovulation.

Al-Sufyan explained that he and a team of doctors conducted a study at Faisal Specialist Hospital on 1000 cases complaining of an increase in weight of about 20 kilograms from the normal weight, and after dividing it into two parts, some of them reached the normal range of weight and it became clear that 80% of them did not need treatment They were able to conceive after that, and 10% of them responded to stimulant pills, compared to 40% of women who were overweight and were able to reduce their weight to the normal range and were able to conceive after that, in addition to that, the greater the age of the woman, the more miscarriages increased because she had a stock. A certain number of oocytes.

This stock does not increase, but rather decreases. At the beginning of puberty, the active eggs are the fittest eggs, of which the woman loses at a rate of 10-20 eggs per menstrual cycle, and if it is calculated on the range of 10-20 years, then the good and valid egg is usually consumed, and the greater the woman’s age, the greater the age of The egg and its ability to divide and combine with sperm and its quality and fertilization are less, meaning that the chances of pregnancy and the increase in the incidence of abortion are tens of times less than the woman with a young age, indicating that if the abortion is repeated more than twice for the woman, the percentage increases to double 30-40% even after repeated Abortion 3-4 times, in the rate of 60-70%, the pregnancy is natural.
