aesthetic medicine

Some dermatologists expressed their deep regret at the interest of their colleagues in the profession in aesthetic medicine at the expense of real medicine and their treatment of chronic diseases such as Vitiligo, Eczema and Psoriasis. They explain the reason for this to its low financial cost compared to those looking for aesthetic medicine. Saudi doctors expected that the annual spending of patients on treating Vitiligo with all existing technologies exceeds 100 million riyals.

Dr.Ahmed Al-Issa, a consultant of skin and laser medicine and surgery at the National Center for Vitiligo in Riyadh, warned that Vitiligo patients, which constitute about 2% of them in the Kingdom, resort to medicinal herbs containing harmful cortisone in addition to other substances that affect liver enzymes and thus destroy them, indicating that about 70% of The center’s reviewers have tried folk remedies and suffer from elevated liver enzymes.

During his participation in the Second World Conference on Vitiligo, which was recently organized by the Center in Riyadh, Dr. Al-Issa stressed that the disease does not receive much attention in European or American countries because the spots are not clear, but in Saudi Arabia and East Asia, the disease causes social paralysis to the sufferers in it greater than any other disease so that some patients He has the idea of suicide and salvation from his suffering with Vitiligo, and the reason for their arrival is the idea that the victim, whether a young man or a girl, especially in the prime of life, will not complete education and will not marry, stressing in this aspect the importance of finding strong support for these patients, otherwise we will lose 2% of society to their injury With social paralysis.

He added that the bad perception of Vitiligo was not limited to the patient only, but extended to the family and the tribe as well, until it became a form of severe fear, terror and social phobia, calling on his colleagues in the profession to reduce the commercial medical work represented in hair transplantation, fat removal, etc., stressing that it is a good job, but not At the expense of treating other diseases.

Dr. Al-Issa stated that the rate of cure of the disease in the surgical operation through the transplantation of pigment cells reaches 85%. There are treatments that respond to 90%, but peripheral Vitiligo treatments do not respond and some are weak.

For his part, Dr.Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Issa, a consultant dermatologist and skin surgeon at Derma Clinics in Riyadh, who holds the Canadian and American Board, confirmed that the Kingdom has the most cases in the world to remove color cells, and people need them.

He stressed the importance of reformulating the patients ’choice when unifying the color of the skin, indicating that what exists now is old and dates back to 70 AD, and it is the global choice of 70% or more, meaning if vitiligo is widespread in the body of 70% or more, a color standardization process is performed. In this regard, Dr. Al-Issa says that we must reduce the percentage to 40 or 50%, and it also depends on the places. There are places of vitiligo that do not respond to medical treatments such as peripheral loss of melanocytes and hair loss itself, indicating that color standardization makes the patient integrate into society with special confidence and that no one can That the color differentiate because the color may unite.

And Dr. Abdullah Al-Issa determines the percentage of those who need an autistic operation to less than 10% of the total number of patients in the Kingdom, whose number exceeds, according to his expectation, to more than 300 thousand patients. Pointing out that Vitiligo is found in body openings such as the eyes, nose, fingers, mouth and extremities, in addition to that the disease loves the affected areas with wounds, itching and bruises because the simple injury leads to the death of color cells. Emphasizing that the disease may result from genetics and other unknown causes.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Issa believes that women attend treatment more than men because of their concern for beauty, reassuring in this regard that there are no risks from ultraviolet rays and other devices, denying that any case has been infected with tumors since 70 AD.

The World Vitiligo Conference, which is being held in Riyadh for the second year in a row, attracted Dr. Nortelent, nicknamed the father of vitiligo, in the world, as the conference enriched with scientific information, while Dr. Slangifu Muniker focused on the surgical aspect.
