osteoporosis
According to a study that lasted years, researchers found that computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen can be used to identify patients with osteoporosis. The researchers conducted a CT-value comparison study, using a computed tomography scan, with a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to determine osteoporosis. For more than 10 years, it has participated in 1,867 adults who performed metal density and dual energy absorption CT and DXA scans within six months.
The researchers found that for patients with osteoporosis and the ratio of double-energy X-ray examination, the values of the CT scan were much lower at all levels of the vertebrae. And that by using certain values for the examination used by specialists to determine the percentage of fragility T-score, osteoporosis can be distinguished from mineral density In normal bone by T-score.
Thus, the scientists advised using a CT scan of the abdomen to diagnose osteoporosis without the need for additional imaging, radiation exposure, cost, equipment, or patient time.
