There are no adequate studies that determine the incidence of sexual dysfunction in the Gulf region in general, and in Saudi Arabia in particular, but it is considered among the highest rates in the world. This is due to several reasons, some of which are psychological, such as anxiety, stress and fear of failure, and some are organic, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and others, where the incidence of impotence is at its highest among diabetics. Statistics indicate that the Gulf region has the highest rates of diabetes in the world, and therefore it is expected that the number of patients with impotence will be greater than usual compared to other countries where diabetes is low.

In this context, the activities of the medical meeting for sexual health were launched in Jeddah in the presence of fifty elite doctors and specialists in treating sexual health problems in the Kingdom, and a number of representatives of the Saudi media. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Amr Mumtaz Gad, President of the Saudi Group for Sexual Health, and Head of the Gulf Group of the African Gulf Association for Sexual Health.

Professor Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Saqa, consultant andrologist at Al-Noor Specialist Hospital in Makkah, and a fellow of the University of California in the United States of America, who has more than 100 papers published in international periodicals and magazines and a member of the specialized committees to formulate recommendations for the Paris conference, shed light on the results And the global recommendations on sexual health issued at the Third Conference on Sexual Health in Paris. One of the most important of them was that impotence is now considered an early warning for many peripheral arterial and cardiovascular diseases, and that strong intervention to reduce risk factors is the main key to preventing arterial diseases and thus improving erection. In recognition of his efforts in this field, Dr. El-Sakka was honored by the President of the Saudi Group for Sexual Health.

Among the 125 other countries in this conference, the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in it came as one of the most important medical forums in the world, which is held under the auspices and organization of the World Association for Sexual Health and the International Committee for Urology Recommendations. The Kingdom’s participation was represented by presenting two medical papers related to erectile dysfunction problems in Saudi Arabia, presented by Dr. Al-Sakka. Experts and specialists have formed 25 groups that work on formulating recommendations that will be presented in the third reference book for this conference. Dr. Sakka participated along with four other doctors from Arab countries in drafting the recommendations of the committees of this conference.

It is worth noting that one of the important studies presented at the conference was presented as a local Saudi research that was conducted some time ago to find out the relationship between diabetes and blood pressure with erectile dysfunction problems, and the study included more than 2000 patients with erectile dysfunction in many cities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Using sildenafil citrate (Viagra), which has been shown to treat patients and return to normal functioning. The results of the research indicated that more than 90% of the sample indicated that they had found the necessary efficacy in the treatment, and that 94% of them would continue to take this treatment, as they confirmed their return to their normal life by using it, in addition to using this The treatment is safe when taken and does not cause severe side effects, especially when used in the correct way.

For his part, Dr. Gad stressed that caring for sexual health at an early stage is one of the very important elements to ensure the success of treatment. What should be known is that the treatment is not only done through the use of special drugs in the treatment of impotence, but also all the causes that lead to weakness must be modified and treated, for example diabetes, high blood pressure, increased cholesterol and prostate enlargement. The head of the Saudi Sexual Health Group stated that the development in the treatment of impotence now allows anyone suffering from this problem the possibility to restore a normal life in his intimate relationship in a safe, effective and automatic manner, by consulting his doctor.
