Looking at the numbers of cancer cases recorded by the National Oncology Registry in the past ten years, we find that these cases are constantly increasing, so that today they are almost double what they were nine years ago among Saudis in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia compared to previous years, where this increase represents 70% during The past nine years.

For her part, Dr. Umm Al-Khair Abdullah Abu Al-Khair, a consultant oncologist at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, confirmed that according to WHO reports, breast cancer cases in the Middle East and Africa are increasing continuously. She considered that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer that affects women, as the average age of infection ranges between 45 and 50 years in Saudi Arabia. She also emphasized that the rate of mastectomy in Arab countries is relatively high, in addition to the increase in mortality rates due to this disease.

Dr. Um Al-Khair explained that there are no clear reasons that show us the causes that lead to breast cancer, but delaying the age of marriage and not breastfeeding are among the risk factors for breast cancer in addition to the family history of inheritance and genetics. The doctor called for the periodic examination of women, which will help in early detection of the disease and then achieve treatment and cure it completely, God willing. In this context, Dr. Um Al-Khair indicated that 800,000 breast cancer cases are made annually for women around the world early, and that three quarters of this number are eligible for treatment and complete cure.

As for Dr. Patrick Chowski, a consultant in the field of cancer treatment in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, he emphasized that deaths due to cancer are at the top of the causes of death in the world, adding that the most important goal of this forum is to increase awareness among societies about the disease and how to treat it. Dr. Patrick added that the danger of cancer cells and their ferocity lies in not relying on regular nutrition, but rather creating conditions that feed them by forming their own blood vessels. There are external and internal factors that lead to the proliferation of cancer cells, which cannot be detected by regular examination or CT scan. The period of reproduction of these cells may extend to twenty years, but we can be alert to the risk factors that help to avoid this disease.

He also thanked the companies for working on spreading awareness among the circles of society to try to prevent the spread of this disease, in addition to the efforts it is making in the world of research and studies to provide the best treatments in this field.
