Professor Fawzan Al-Qurayyah for his achievements

The American Society of Human Genetics has announced that Saudi Professor Dr. Fawzan Al-Qurai''a, Senior Consultant of Genetics at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, has won the prestigious "Card Stern" award, which is awarded annually to a world rich in human genetics with outstanding achievements during the past 10 years.

By granting this year''s prize to Professor Al-Quray, the award will be broken for the first time since its inauguration in 2001 AD, after all the winners were from American scientific institutions, although the field of competition remained available to prominent scientists from all countries of the world.

Professor Al-Karai`’s merit for the award came in recognition of the scientific committee for his abundant contributions in human genetics represented in discovering the physiological and structural functions of hundreds of genes, which made it possible to diagnose many patients with genetic disorders from all over the world and prevent the occurrence of many genetic diseases, as well as the importance of his discoveries in devoting The concept of the close relationship between genetics and human health in what has become known as personalized medicine, which focuses on the importance of the genetic map in understanding all diseases.
