This came during a press conference held by King Fahd Medical City, yesterday, at its headquarters, in the presence of members of the medical and supervisory team from the Ministry of Health and Civil Defense and King Fahd Medical City, to treat the case of the patient Khaled Shairi, an obese patient, 610 kilograms, in implementation of the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, by his transfer and treatment in King Fahd Medical City, and to work medically to restore his normal life and rid him of obesity.
The Executive Director General of King Fahd Medical City, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Jabbar Al Yamani, said that, based on the supreme directive, the poetic patient arrived in the city yesterday after the success of the transfer process, and he was admitted to the room assigned to him after conducting medical examinations and preparing the patient medically by the treating team, confirming that His condition is stable and is subject to immediate direct observation.
He added that a plan has been developed in several stages that include first providing treatment services to him completely in his residence, as if he is inside the hospital until he is transferred, then work to prepare the transportation plan in coordination with the civil defense, emergency management and the relevant authorities, and under full medical supervision by the emergency and disaster consultant Dr. Badr Al-Otaibi, in cooperation with the Emergency Department of the Ministry of Health and Civil Defense, to supervise his safe and proper transportation to King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh, then the medical team led by the consultant endoscopic and obesity surgery in the city, Dr. Ayed Al-Qahtani, took over his treatment.
Dr. Al-Yamani emphasized that this rare and difficult case required a lot of planning, especially from the civil defense team, in order to demolish the wall of the house, and then construct a bridge to get it out, and then lower it safely to the ground from the second floor.

For his part, the head of the medical team and consultant endoscopic surgery and obesity in the city, Dr. Ayed Rabian Al-Qahtani, stated that the second stage includes his transfer to the ambulance, which is also specially prepared for such a case as an exceptional case that no similar case has been dealt with in the medical history, followed by a stage He was transported by a C-130 military plane and the mechanism for transporting him to and from the plane, as well as dealing with him inside it, then the stage of transferring him from the plane again to King Fahd Medical City by ambulance and the mechanism of that and finally bringing him to his room in the city.
Dr. Al-Qahtani pointed out that the patient Khaled was born in 1412 AH, and his pregnancy and birth were normal, but in the fifth month cases of convulsion and loss of consciousness began to develop with the patient, and in the second year of his life, his weight began to grow rapidly until his childhood, movement and activity were restricted, and the patient had ten Siblings, his 23-year-old brother suffers from 150 kg of obesity, and his 18-year-old sister is 100 kg obese.
The head of the medical team said that the patient has now been confined to his bed for nearly three years, cannot move even to the bathroom, and suffers from immobility of the lower limbs on all feet.
Dr. Al-Qahtani added that the transfer of the patient will take place next Monday, and he will undergo the necessary examinations, and according to the results of the medical examinations, a treatment plan will be developed by a multidisciplinary team.
