He added that the main goal of holding the event, which witnessed a distinguished presence of about 300 visitors, is to work to raise awareness in the community of this disease, especially since it is about 1.5 million people with asthma in the Kingdom and the cost of treatment is estimated at about one billion riyals annually. The incidence of asthma has increased by 300% in the last decade, noting that cases of asthma are less in males at the age of puberty than in females, where relapses of asthma increase in them at puberty and the reason for this is not specified yet, but some theories are due to causes related to hormones.
The organizers of this event also reviewed the importance of informing the community about asthma, how to treat it, and the relationship of asthma to dust and smoking, the most prominent causes and ways to block it, as well as the most prominent discoveries in asthma.
