The President of the University of Taif, Prof. Dr. Yusef bin Abdo Asiri, issued a decision appointing Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Sowat as a vice-dean for the university for postgraduate studies and scientific research, succeeding Dr. Saad bin Salem Al-Zahrani.
Al-Swat confirmed, in a press statement, that the University Agency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research will continue to work in the coming period to establish and develop an infrastructure for scientific research to meet the necessary requirements in this field and contribute to the continuous development and improvement of scientific research efforts.
The Vice Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research in charge stated that the agency''s efforts aim to develop and develop research skills and the faculty of creativity and innovation among faculty members, and to motivate them to conduct distinguished research in light of specific topics according to the needs of society, as well as to identify topics and areas of scientific research in light of needs The current and future of society, and to contribute to solving its problems and developing it.
He said, "The agency''s efforts in the past period included the creation of the research groups program and support for internal, local and international research cooperation by this program, to serve the university''s research priorities derived from the Kingdom''s priorities and Vision 2030, and to effectively contribute to solving community issues, in addition to supporting new researchers at the university through The "Daem" program, which aims to encourage and indigenize research work at the university.
The Vice Dean of Taif University for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research in charge pointed out that the university launched several research initiatives, all of which aim to raise the quality of scientific research, increase research outputs, and raise the rate of patents. Most notably, activating the High Altitude Research Center to produce distinguished research outputs, establishing quality international partnerships, adding a unique community service, and supporting scientific chairs at the university to improve its research and community outputs, stressing support for researchers to participate in local and international conferences through their research projects supported by the university.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Al-Sowat is a professor of internal medicine, a consultant in internal medicine, diabetes and endocrinology, and a certified specialist in clinical density measurement, and he previously held the position of the dean of graduate studies, as well as the dean of scientific research at Taif University, before he was assigned to his current position as vice-dean for postgraduate studies and scientific research.
