after marriage
A recent medical conference in Jeddah and Riyadh called for the use of ICSI as one of the best means to eliminate infertility that faces (80%) of obese women in Saudi Arabia, and warned of the increasing pressures of life that constitute the main reason for the growth of the phenomenon of infertility in the modern era, with the spread of Venereal diseases, absence of sperm, and obstruction of the fallopian tubes in women.
The infertility consultant and head of the Saudi Obstetrics and Gynecology Society and the head of the IVF unit at King Abdulaziz University, Professor Hassan Saleh Jamal, said: “The percentage of infertility in the Kingdom constitutes a large percentage in the Gulf region in general and the Eastern region in particular, according to a study issued by King Faisal University in Riyadh.”
He stressed that a doctor should not be visited during the first year of marriage, and added: “The man must first be examined and the necessary analyzes done before the wife is subjected to any of the tests, indicating that the treatment has become much easier and better than before for the man through ICSI.” And Jamal explained that many husbands resort to modern reproductive technologies that address many of the husband and wife''s infertility and fertilization problems, such as: the wife’s tubes being blocked, and the husband’s weak or low sperm. He said: "In the past, the IVF mechanism was used on a small scale, but now it has become widely used with a high success rate." It is also new to use equipped laboratories to discover genetic diseases that may cause deformation of embryos and the occurrence of many serious problems in the newborn.
And he indicated that modern medicines, new mechanisms and the use of medicines in an effective and safe manner have led to fertilization success and the preservation of the mother’s health. He also clarified that the choice of drugs and their doses have become determined through specific criteria for the genetic laboratory and the experience of the treating physician to choose the appropriate drug and dose for each patient or patient as needed.
