As part of our media coverage of the first awareness campaign for anesthesia "Towards safe anesthesia", which was organized yesterday, Thursday, in response to the C Mall of Anesthesia Department, King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, in cooperation with the Board, we headed on our tour to another section in anesthesia, where we met on our tour with Dr. "Osama Ahmed Al-Ahdal", consultant and head of the department Anesthesia and treatment of chronic pain at the International Medical Center, and we asked him about his participation in the campaign and he said:
I was previously for 14 years at King Faisal Specialist Hospital, then I moved to the International Medical Center with the aim of establishing quality concepts in private hospitals to codify errors, reduce them and avoid them in private hospitals through the application of quality concepts in them.
On the meaning of anesthesia, Dr. Usama Al-Ahdal says: The meaning of anesthesia is the loss of consciousness that is prescribed for a period of time for a person to give him some medicine intravenously or by inhalation, and it is prescribed so that we can restore the patient''s consciousness and with the will of God Almighty to what he was before the operation. This is the role of anesthesia, and there are many methods of general, midline, local and peripheral anesthesia for the patient, and the development of science led to the achievement of working for the patient with external anesthesia only.
On the development of anesthesia and the problems of anesthesia over time, Dr. Ahdal said that the types of needles and the types of drugs are very old and they have problems now that there have been development in the types of drugs and the development in the needles themselves, and therefore as long as the patient has an operation that is not subsoil (not inside the chest or abdomen), we can work for the patient anesthesia in the organ Elie Bessoy In it the operation is only outside the cavity, such as knee operations, most of which are now local anesthesia, and the patient is awake, and what is needed is the patient sleeping.
