Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Nuwaiser, a chest consultant at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam, explained that venous thrombosis (patients with thrombosis) is one of the most severe risks that patients face inside and outside hospitals among members of the community, and the death rate from venous thrombosis (pulmonary embolism) in hospitals ranges between 10-12 In addition, 10% of deaths in hospitals are the result of venous thrombosis, and he added that it was found in scientific publications that about 60-70% of cases of venous thrombotic diseases were not diagnosed clinically, but were discovered after death through the autopsy process, and there is a percentage 70% of deaths due to a pulmonary venous thrombosis (fatal pulmonary embolus) detected post-mortem were either undiagnosed or there was no suspicion of their existence in the prenatal stage. And Dr. Al-Nowaiser indicated that venous thrombosis is one of the most common avoidable causes among hospital deaths.

He added that the use of preventive treatment for people exposed to the possibility of venous thrombosis is the most successful strategy in order to ensure improved safety opportunities for inpatients, and therefore the proper and appropriate use of preventive treatment of thrombosis will reduce the incidence of the disease, and then reduce the volume of spending on health care.

He said that the cases of inpatients who are fourteen and over must be examined and evaluated to ensure the extent of their exposure to this disease (thrombosis), and therefore they must be given the appropriate preventive treatment, and consideration must be given to providing emergency services and accelerating early movement of all patients once they Their clinical cases allow.
