Objectives of the first anesthesia awareness campaign
The Director of the Anesthesia Department at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, Dr. Maan Qattan, explained that the Anesthesia Department is about to conduct the first annual awareness campaign for anesthesia under the slogan “Towards Safe Anesthesia” next Thursday at “The Red Sea Mall” and in cooperation with the Saudi Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Kattan indicated that awareness of this aspect is very important, especially since anesthesia is of great importance, and he said that anesthesia is a non-permanent state of loss of consciousness and lack of pain in addition to muscle relaxation. Dr. Kattan indicated that during recent years the concepts of health education have been elevated to become a science of knowledge that uses behavioral and educational theories, methods of communication, means of education and media principles to improve the health level of the individual and society. For her part, Dr. Haifa Kayal, Consultant Anesthesiologist, Vice President of the Anesthesia Program for Resident Doctors at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, explained that the awareness campaign includes 6 educational stations which are (full anesthesia, midwifery anesthesia, anesthesia clinic, pediatric anesthesia, a pain-free delivery, pain treatment), as well as She indicated that one of the most important things that will be presented in the awareness campaign is to educate all women about the back needle through the education station "Birth Without Pain" and she said that it is a method in which repeated doses of local anesthesia are used in the epidural region (surrounding the spinal cord), which leads to anesthesia of the uterine nerves and this The method is suitable for most women.
