Surgical intervention stops the suffering of 10 years

The medical team at the Orthopedic Department at King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Taif succeeded in stopping the suffering of a young man in the second decade of his life who had been complaining for a decade of chronic pain in the left ankle as a result of a sprain accident with a tear in the lateral collateral ligament of the ankle that led to chronic suffering with pain and instability of a joint ankle.

The patient visited the department''s sports medicine clinic, the condition was diagnosed, the torn ligament was identified, the presence of impingement syndrome and chronic ankle inflammation.

The medical team in the department was led by Dr. Ahmed Al-Ziyadi and Dr. Ahmed Osama Al-Rajeh, and a two-stage surgery was performed, in which an ankle arthroscopy was performed in which the joint was cleaned of the inflammatory tissue in the lateral angle that was the cause of the pain.

In addition, a small surgical incision was made and the torn collateral ligament was repaired with tissue support. The operation was successful, thanks to God, and the patient returned to his normal life.
