Jeddah - Khaled bin Mardah, Jeddah Health Authority held a workshop for the National Program for Early Detection of Breast Cancer, as part of the workshops scheduled in preparation for the International Month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness, under the slogan (Do not wait for symptoms .. check now). The coordinator of the program in Jeddah Health, Dr. Sharifa Al-Asiri, Assistant Consultant Family Medicine, explained that the aim of the workshop is to train the participants in the campaign to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and correct misconceptions so that the information can be communicated to the target group.
Dr. Samar Shugairi, a consultant breast radiologist, touched in her lecture on the percentage of women in the Kingdom with breast cancer and the importance of mammograms in early detection, thus reducing the mortality rate significantly. This referred to the age group of women who need to be examined by mammogram.
