A Saudi study revealed that the percentage of sex correction surgeries has increased in the Kingdom in recent years, as 60 pathological cases were corrected from one gender to another within one year, while only 370 cases were corrected over the past 25 years. The problem of satisfactory gender mixing between male and female characteristics is one of the most critical issues facing Saudi society.
Okaz newspaper quoted in its issue released at the end of the week, Dr. Yasser Saleh Jamal, a consultant in pediatric surgery and plastic surgery at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, said, "Sex correction operations are carried out in the university hospital according to the fatwas of religious references in the Kingdom." He pointed out that "the correction of sex means a correction of a wrong situation to a healthy one. As for changing the sex, which is rejected by law, it is a change from a healthy position to a wrong one, and it includes a change in the creation of God."
He revealed that the external reproductive organs are one of the most common means of determining sex for the general population, and this defect is called the ambiguous reproductive system (in which the reproductive system is a mediator between masculinity and femininity), and it requires full examinations to reach the correct gender of the child.
"Okaz" newspaper quoted the head of the District Court in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al-Dhafri, as saying, "Each man and woman has his own job, and converting a man himself into a woman is forbidden by Sharia. It is not permissible at all, and also it is not permissible for a woman to transform herself." Through medicine to a man because she is a woman. "
A number of human rights institutions and associations around the world concerned with issues of homosexuality and sexual diversity seek to urge the governments of various countries to authorize sex reassignment operations for those who wish to do so, based on desire, will and scientific examinations, but religious institutions usually reject such calls and fight them.
