At King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, the Sex Identification and Correction Center at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah was able to determine and correct the sex of 700 young men and women from the Kingdom and Gulf, Arab and Islamic countries. The head of the center, Professor Yasser Saleh Jamal, explained that the correction and determination rate may be close between the two parties, albeit with a slight increase in cases of correction to masculinity.

According to "Okaz", Jamal explained that the difference is big between correction and sex change operations. Sex correction operations are legally permissible with the consensus of the Fiqh Councils, and the problem is that a person has a defect in the reproductive system or physical structure in such a way that he appears female and is in fact a male. In this case, corrective surgery is performed to the real sex, and vice versa, the person may be female, but she has a defect in the reproductive system, so she looks like a male, and corrective surgery is performed to the real sex.

He added, I was the first to originate the term sex correction for patients with mixed sex determination, and over the past 30 years, I have been emphasizing in every meeting the use of the term sex correction and the non-use of the word sex change or gender reassignment. Because gender correction is the appropriate term for the provisions of Islamic law for those who have a problem in determining sex.

He pointed to the establishment of a new center for regenerative surgeries at the University Hospital concerned with adopting a new technology represented in the use of autologous fats and stem cells separated from fat, not bone marrow, in many operations, including birth defects and sex correction operations.
