About the unit
Conducting experimental surgical procedures (for all specialties, either conventional or endoscopic) on animals (small and large), and subject it for research, thus to create and test new surgical modalities to treat surgical conditions and to improve outcome. In an effort to conduct experimental surgical procedures on animals and subject it for research, King Fahd Medical Research Center (KFMRC) established Experimental Surgery Unit in 2009, under the supervision of Dr. Hatim Ali Al-Abbadi, )Director of the Unit ( , a Consultant General Surgeon at King Abdulaziz University Hospital and a member of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Medicine. This unit conducts conventional surgical procedures on small and large animals and performing endoscopic surgical procedures on large animals. ESU is looking forward to extend their services to the region of the Middle East and to gain distinctive international recognition.
