Dr. Mohamed Abdel Mohsen Al-Sheikh, consultant of micro-ear surgeries and neurosurgery and consultant of cochlear implants and orthopedic hearing aids, succeeded in ending the suffering of a patient who was suffering from hearing impairment in both ears with persistent secretions. She had performed 3 previous operations in more than one hospital and was not successful. Examinations and audiograms, as well as a pre-trial test of the newest orthopedic hearing aids in the world, are perfectly suitable for implantation in the right and left ear.
This operation was performed by Dr. Mohamed Al-Sheikh and his medical team. It took 3 hours to perform it on the right and left side. Dr. Mohamed Al-Sheikh explained that this operation is the first in which a BAHA attract system is implanted in both ears in the Kingdom and the Middle East. As such a hearing aid is considered the latest hearing aid available now and gives excellent results, and the patient can be discharged on the same day after the operation and the installation of the external device after 4 weeks of the operation. Also, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sheikh expressed his thanks and gratitude to the management of King Fahd Hospital in Jeddah represented by its director, Dr. Hani Jokhdar for their continuous support for the cochlear implant and orthopedic program.
