(Al-Bilad): “Time management” is the best investment for vacations

Specialists stressed the necessity of taking advantage of intermittent vacations by managing time in the correct positive way, away from wasting time on useless matters.

They assured Al-Bilad that combining entertainment and learning through time management helps to invest time and acquire new knowledge and sciences. Professor and consultant in endocrinology and pediatric diabetes at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, Professor Abdul Moein Eid Al-Agha, says: “One of the most negative things about intermittent vacations for male and female students is that they do not exploit them in the correct way. We find that most male and female students spend most of their time during vacations behind electronic devices and games.”

He said: Managing time on vacation is the best successful way to carry out all daily tasks in addition to enjoying the day by practicing hobbies, entertainment, and acquiring new knowledge, skills, and sciences. Organizing time in general allows enjoying a short vacation.

Professor Al-Agha warned male and female students against staying up behind devices for long hours extending until dawn, as early sleep is very important for human health. Whether it is mental, physical or psychological health, the fact that many people do not know is that there are three types of hormones that are affected by late sleep, as well as if the child is sleeping under the light, which are “growth hormone, which is secreted from the pituitary gland, and cortosol, which is secreted from the adrenal gland. And the hormone melatonin, which is secreted from the pineal gland.

Professor Al-Agha advised that exercise include the daily time management schedule. Because exercising works to stimulate the body, stimulate blood circulation, and also helps to strengthen memory, improve the psychological state and activate the cells of the body and brain, thus receiving information and remembering lessons well, in addition to making sure to eat healthy food that contains all the nutritional elements required for the body.

For his part, Family and Community Medicine Consultant, Dr. Muhammad Bakr Saleh Qandeh, called on male and female students to invest their vacation in useful matters and not waste it by staying up late behind devices. Unfortunately, most male and female students waste their vacation behind electronic devices by staying up for long hours that extend until dawn. Under the pretext of having a “holiday,” unfortunately, on vacation days, night turns into day for most male and female students. They stay up until very late hours and sleep in the morning, which is basically the time to wake up, and thus they are exposed to an imbalance in the hormonal systems within the body.

Qandeh pointed out that a routine must be followed before bed, as well as a sleep schedule organized. This helps with better sleep, avoiding eating right before bed, eating dinner early, and making sure to exercise daily.

Dr. confirmed. Qandeh said that one of the important pieces of advice is not to exceed the hours of using electronic devices. Unfortunately, technologies have become dominant in the lives of all school students, which negatively affects their health. Therefore, it is recommended to regulate the use of devices daily and during vacations to avoid health problems resulting from this, and the necessity of organizing time and not wasting it on useless matters, as making sure to invest in vacation reflects positively on the lives of male and female students.

Social Counselor Talal Muhammad Al-Nashiri agrees with the previous opinions and says: “Unfortunately, most school students, both male and female, do not benefit from school vacation well They waste time on useless things. There are many activities that male and female students can benefit from, but unfortunately most of them choose to spend most of their time behind smart devices and electronic games.”

He pointed out that one of the most important problems that occur during vacations is: It involves male and female students staying up for long hours. This has a negative impact on health. Sleeping early, for 8 continuous hours a day, should be one of the priorities for an individual’s health, as this helps maintain the body’s vitality and activity, and thus the ability to perform tasks and not feel tired, lethargic, and lazy.

Al-Nashiri added, saying: Lack of sleep leads to a constant feeling of exhaustion, fatigue, and rapid stress, and the individual becomes moody, agitated and angry for the most trivial reasons, and as a result of staying up late and in the long run, it results in a number of health problems Due to disruption of vital processes in the body These include weight gain, high blood pressure, irregular heart rate, and a weak immune system. This goes beyond poor memory and concentration, which affects a person’s performance and productivity. Scientists also noticed that motor abilities diminish and speaking becomes difficult and unclear. Because the language part of the brain is damaged, male and female students who do not get enough sleep misbehave, and many problems may be due to lack of sleep and its effect on the individual’s perception and behavior.
