its consequences and complications

It employs to remove non-kinetic wrinkles. Beauty is an obsession for many people who hope to preserve youth, especially skin youthfulness. In recent times, various treatment methods have appeared to combat wrinkles, the most famous of which is filler injection, which has many questions that have puzzled those who would like to use it, ponder its pros and fear its negative aspects. We addressed the most important of these questions to one of the specialists in this field, Dr. Adel Al-Sently, a consultant dermatologist at King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah, a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, a member of the International Society of Hair Transplantation, who shed light on the (filter) technique and its types and uses.

Injection packing

Fillers or "fillers" are substances that are injected into the inner layers of the skin to remove non-kinetic wrinkles, as these substances fill the dermis layer of the skin and then raise the skin to the natural level of the face.

There are several types of filler injections, which can be divided according to their source into natural types such as bovine collagen, and into synthetic and self-contained third types (i.e. from the same person). It can also be divided according to how long the substance in these injections lasts, and thus it is divided into:

Short term, with an effect of less than 3 months, such as bovine collagen injection.

Medium-term, lasting from 3 to 12 months, an example of which is hyalurinc acid.

Long-acting, lasting 12-24 months as calcium hydroxylapatite.

Very long-term or permanent, such as Artefill (polymethylmethacrylate microspheres) lasting more than 24 months.

Among the most famous of these substances: Hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the human body, and its effect usually lasts from 6 to 12 months after injection, and this substance is in the form of "gel" (ie, a gel), @@ and is injected into the tissues, tightening the skin and reducing Wrinkles. The hyaluronic acid material has several types according to its density, and for each intensity a specific use is made for the hyaluronic acid with the most density for deep wrinkles, while the lower density is used to correct fine lines. Examples of hyaluronic acid used are Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, and Teosyal.

Another filler is calcium hydroxylapitite, which is a heavy substance used to plump up deep areas of the skin, and its effect lasts up to two years, such as Radiesse.

Among the materials used is collagen, which is a natural protein that is extracted from cow skin. It was previously one of the most popular types, but now its uses have decreased as it may lead to allergies in some people, especially those who are sensitive to animal protein, so an allergy test must be done twice before it is given, as well as the duration of its stay is limited to about 3-6 months.

And also from the materials used are fats that are taken from the person himself through liposuction from the abdomen or buttocks and then injected into the areas to be enlarged. It is worth noting that it is not recommended to use permanent types of filters, but medium or long-acting types of filters are preferred.

Fill injection uses

Filling injection has many uses, including what we mentioned previously, such as filling wrinkles on the face and the back of the hands, as well as using filler needles to give volume to the lips and fill the face and contour of the face and cheeks.

It is known that with age, the natural lipids in the face lose their volume, and the skin-supporting substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid decrease. Not only that, the cheekbones are also shrinking, as these factors lead to the face losing its youthful shape and then fat accumulating in the lower part of the face, and the face gradually changes from a triangular shape to a rectangular shape. In the past, these cases were treated with face-lift operations, but now fillers are easily used to restore fullness and symmetry to the face. One of the uses of fillers is that it is a treatment for deep scars, as it fills the skin layers and raises them to the natural level of the surrounding skin. In some cases of rhinoplasty, filler injections are used, as it has become possible to give a consistent texture to the nose without any surgical intervention.

How are filler needles given? Initially, the area to be treated is identified, and then an anesthetic cream is applied to the area to reduce the feeling of pain. Sometimes local anesthesia needles are placed to reduce pain. And after giving the anesthetic cream in sufficient time, the filler substance begins. It is noteworthy that the newly manufactured types have a local anesthetic (Lidocaine), which helps relieve any pain that may occur during the injection.

What is the appropriate amount to be injected to the patient and when do the results appear? The amount of material injected is determined as needed, and according to the injection sites. The area to be filled with fillers is injected in the same session, with the possibility of increasing the material in the future. The quantity also varies according to the person''s desire.

As for the results of the filler, they appear during the session directly, but the final result is ten days after the injection, as during this period the material takes its final form in the treated area.

Tips after the injection. There are simple instructions given to the patient after the injection process, including: not to sleep on the injected area during the first week of the injection, and to reduce the movement of the injected area during the first week, and not to take aspirin and anti-inflammatory joints, for at least a week before taking the filling injection, and for a day or so Two days later.

Side effects

There are minor and temporary complications, including:

Bleeding may occur under the skin, and it appears as simple bruising, and it will disappear within days. Therefore, it is advised not to take aspirin and anti-inflammatory arthritis for at least a week before taking filler injections, as these drugs increase the incidence of bleeding under the skin.

The substance is spilled under the skin, but it will gradually disappear with light massage.

The occurrence of an allergy to fillers, especially collagen of animal origin, and therefore a sensitivity test for these substances must be done before injection.

Move the filter from one place to another.

Many people confuse botox injections with fillers, and here we point out that "botox" is a natural protein substance extracted from a type of bacteria - Clostridium botulinum - and botox works to remove the movement wrinkles of the face when injected locally in the areas of the forehead and around the eyes. This method gives the face brightness and beauty while overcoming the signs of aging. The effect of Botox appears approximately one week after the injection and lasts for six months.

Dr. Adel Al-Centli advises each patient that he must know the type of filler injection used in the injection, and the patient must adhere to the doctor''s instructions, especially in the few days after the injection, in order to obtain the best results.
