it, with Dr. Hamad Al-Sufyan
In recent years, and in light of scientific development, the egg freezing technique has been developed, which has led to an increase in the number of young women who undergo this process, so that they have the opportunity to conceive later.
In the course of an interview for "My Lady Net" with Dr. Hamad Al-Sufyan, he referred to the methods of egg freezing, which are as follows:
Stimulation of the ovaries
The ovaries usually produce one egg every month for fertilization out of dozens of eggs, so it is necessary to stimulate the ovaries with ovulation induction drugs for about two weeks, and then collect them in order to increase the number stored.
Egg collection
It is a simple operation that does not take more than half an hour under light anesthesia, during which the eggs are collected by an external ultrasound device at the bottom of the abdominal wall with a very small prick, for unmarried women, but for married women, it is done through a vaginal ultrasound.
Preservation of Vetrification oocytes
It is a process that is carried out by drying or oscillation, and it increases the quality of the eggs preserved for many years, which may exceed 10 years, and may reach 25 years compared to previous traditional methods that used to preserve the eggs in a very low temperature, as it might lead to the breakage of the external wall of the eggs and affect the Ovule viability.
Thawing oocytes thawed
Some eggs are thawed only when they need to be fertilized and the rest are preserved, for other fertilization attempts, and the thawing process for frozen eggs is done in easy and guaranteed ways to ensure their safety.
ICSI injection and insemination
The dissolved egg is injected with one sperm per egg by means of a microscope injection with special techniques, and the resulting embryos are returned to the uterus under ultrasound monitoring to ensure that they are implanted in the appropriate place, 3-5 days after fertilization occurred.
Pregnancy Result
The result of pregnancy appears two weeks after the process of returning the embryos, and the rate of pregnancy in it - compared to normal pregnancy - ranges from 30-60% for each embryo implantation, and the rates are increasing in light of scientific development.
Genes and chromosome testing can also be performed on embryos resulting from fertilization of a frozen egg. To ensure its safety before returning it, especially in the presence of a personal or family history of PGS, known as pre-pregnancy diagnosis.
The simple steps are
Egg collection - Freezing - Egg storage
Egg collection - freeze - store / egg - bank
When you want to get pregnant
Thaw Egg Freezing - Fertilization with Sperm (ICSI) - Embryo transfer from the fertilized egg to the uterus.
