Breast cancer is a term that has a frightening reality for the soul that carries among its folds the pain and aches that accompany everyone who has been dominated by that disease called "malignant" as it comes without warning, spreads in the human body and reaches multiple stages if it is not detected early, and statistics have proven that what Approximately 1600 new cases are discovered annually in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In this context, the Ministry of National Guard organized the "San Antonio" World Conference on Breast Cancer in the Middle East, with the participation of nearly 1,000 doctors and specialists in scientific research in the field of diagnosing and treating tumors under the slogan "For You" for breast cancer patients and survivors.

"My Lady" was present at this distinguished scientific event to harvest the interviews with the medical team and share with the survivors their experience with the disease that they faced, and raised their secret weapons to confront it.

First of all, Dr. Umm al-Khair Abdullah Abu al-Khair, head of the scientific committee and head of the adult oncology department in the King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh, explains that statistics and studies confirm that the incidence of breast cancer increases year after year, and the reasons for this increase are due to several factors, the most important of which are: Early it became discover new cases infected with the disease, also due to the increasing age of women, in addition to being obese, and lack of exercise.

Types of breast cancer

Breast cancer has types that are classified according to the genetic classification. There are "triple negative" breast cancer, which is the most dangerous type Because it does not respond to hormonal or immune treatments directed to the receptors, in addition to another type that carries a lot of protein receptors on its surface, this responds to biological therapy, and the easiest and easiest type is the type that has hormonal receptions, as it responds to treatment effectively and positively.

Every woman must do a self-examination at an early age in order to know the nature of her body on her own, then she will know the simplest changes that will occur to it, so that she can detect the disease early, in addition to doing a medical examination every three years, as early detection increases the rate of recovery to 98% .

Zain Marzouki recounts her experience with the disease, saying: “I discovered my disease six years ago by chance, when I felt the breast area and found a strange lump, so I went for tests that showed my breast cancer, and when my son informed me of the results of the tests, I found my tears involuntarily. After that, I underwent three mastectomy operations, then I completed chemotherapy, and what made me stronger is the great support from my family and my children. The beauty of the disease is that it brought us together, and I began to say: “A harmful and beneficial Lord”, and when I had moments of weakness, I would ask myself: How to be a student counselor to solve problems Others are stronger than their will and I am weak? ''''

About her secret weapon to fight cancer, she says: "I fought it with faith and strong will. I always said to cancer: You are a gift from the Lord of the Worlds, because he loved me and gave you to me. You changed me and because of you I became a bold and more social person."

Sabah Al-Youssef says: “I always did a regular breast examination, and at one point I discovered that there were cysts in it, but the doctors assured me that they were water bags, but then I started feeling chest pain and redness from the outside, so I went for the tests, and I knew when I underwent the x-ray The difference between a benign tumor and a malignant tumor is a point. The benign tumor appears as a black spot, while the malignant one appears as a black spot with a white spot inside, and then I saw the point, and I felt fear not for myself but for my young children, so my husband passed away by God, and there is no one to take care of them but me, and the journey continued. My treatment with chemotherapy for nine years. As for my secret weapon to resist it is supplication and my love for my children, and I say to cancer: “Thank you, I did not fail.” You alerted me to things that I missed that made me close to God.

Cancer is weak and we are stronger than it

As for Dr. Fatima Al-Abadi, she says about her experience: “I work in the field of medical health education, and I have seen many cases of cancer and dealt with them, but I did not expect to be his companion. When I learned of my disease and heard the word cancer, I became very afraid, so I turned to my brother, the doctor, and informed him, and he surprised me with a response. He did it, as I found him responding calmly to me saying, “Simple, get it up.” Then all my fears disappeared, and I realized that it was a simple matter, and I performed the operation to remove it, then came the chemotherapy phase and my hair was shaved, and this is the time when I cried, but I did not find my picture that I know. , But I was continuing my fight against cancer with the weapon of supplication and prayer, and I said to cancer: “You are much weaker than us, and we are the strongest and we can overcome you,” indicating that her experience changed her a lot, as it made her a more flexible person who sees life as beautiful and contemplates all its meanings.

The wrong culture terrorizes us from cancer

Psychologist Hessa Al-Sabhan says: “I discovered the disease and I was 23 years old at the time. I noticed a lump in the breast, and after conducting medical examinations, the disease was discovered. The word cancer is scary. About an evil woman who gets cancer at the end of the series as a punishment for her actions, then she dies, so I used to associate evil and punishment with my disease, and I took a bad idea about myself, then I underwent treatment and removed the tumor, then chemotherapy, and I was shocked when I saw my hair falling out all at once, and I did not accept my appearance for a while A month and a half, but I overcame all of that using the weapon of patience and strong will, and I say to cancer after I recovered from it: "Thank you, you changed my life. It has become much better. You have taught me patience and appreciation of God''s grace."
