coverage of "Corona"
Assistant professor and consultant psychiatrist, Dr. Mishaal bin Khaled Al-Aqeel, advised not to over-follow media coverage of the new "Corona" virus during home quarantine, pointing out that this may cause a feeling of fear and anxiety.
Al-Aqeel said in a statement to “Previously”: Under the conditions of adhering to the instructions, staying at home and not leaving except for necessity, we find it necessary to avoid excessive exposure to media coverage of the new “Corona” virus As this may lead to increased feelings of fear and anxiety.
Al-Aqeel advised everyone to plan a schedule and daily routine during this period. This is to maintain a sense of order and reduce tension, while trying to balance the time spent on news and social media with other activities not related to quarantine or isolation, such as playing sports, reading, watching movies or attending courses remotely, and limiting access to news from reliable sources.
He said: "It is very important to stay in touch with others, using phone or video calls and visual text messages, especially if you feel sad or anxious. Use these conversations as an opportunity to discuss your experience and the feelings associated with it, but without excessive, and try to talk about other topics."
He concluded his statement by saying: "Maintain a healthy lifestyle by getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising in your home."
