The head of the surgery department at the Sex Identification and Correction Center at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, the Saudi surgeon, Professor Yasser Saleh Jamal, revealed that he had performed sex correction operations for three Saudi women, aged between 18 and 21, who were found to be males, after their marriage, during separate periods of time. Jamal explained - in statements to "Al-Watan" Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, that it became clear that the three women had problems with their husbands, before the operations were carried out, which prompted them to file for divorce, indicating that they visited the center and had the necessary checks were made for them, and it turned out that they were males, and corrective operations were performed Sex for them, and they go about their lives normally now.
The Saudi professor confirmed that girls who undergo sex-correcting operations are considered more receptive to these operations than males, and they can comfortably exercise their lives, while we find that the males who undergo the operation reject the reality of returning as a female, and the rejection is usually by them or their families. He added, "It may take several years for them to come to perform the correction process, until the young man reaches, and then they find themselves forced to visit the center to conduct operations for them."
Regarding sex reassignment operations in violation of the Sharia, Jamal said: There are girls who have undergone such operations in several countries outside the Kingdom. Reasons including that a girl wants to be a male Because it seeks a greater share of the inheritance. He revealed that there were requests from girls who had visited the center in order to conduct this operation However, their requests were rejected. Because such operations are against Islamic law, and they change God''s creation and will.
The professor of the Department of Surgery at the Sex Correction Center added that "this is legally rejected, because it is considered a change from a healthy situation to a wrong one which results in an increase in psychological and social problems for the person, revealing that there have been cases at the center that have performed a sex change operation abroad requiring a document from the center in the name of correction." Sex so that they can obtain an ID card, and their requests were rejected because the sex reassignment operations that were performed on them are illegal. "
Gamal emphasized that those who undergo sex-change operations suffer from what is known as "loss of sexual identity", as they are subjected to society''s rejection of them, and all over the world we find that 60% of them end their lives for social reasons, indicating that most of these cases may die by suicide. With regard to the licensed sex correction operations, Jamal revealed that the sex correction operations that he performed reached 450 operations for 30 years, at a rate of 50 annually, and the process takes from two hours to 10 hours, and varies from one to three stages, explaining that there is progress in the processes of correcting sex. Through the modifications that were made, it led to better results in the proximity of the supposed reproductive system to the condition after the operation.
The professor at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah revealed that there are still more than 90 cases waiting for sex correction surgery, justifying that there are no specialists interested in performing these operations, due to the long period of this process and the reluctance of specialists to specialize in this field. Jamal emphasized that the Ministry of Health prohibited the conduct of operations specialized in determining sex in private hospitals, except after making sure of the type of operation, Where it must be a process of correction and not a change, and confirmation is made either by a medical committee until the "chromosomes", the gonads, and the internal and external reproductive system are examined, and then the approval comes from the Agency of the Ministry of Medical Affairs from the Ministry of Health, after the arrival of the results of the medical reports that allow the operation Correct the sex, and the goal is so that the processes of change are not performed.
