Dr. Hessa bint Mohammed Al-Waili, head of the Preventive Section in the Dental Administration of Health Affairs in Riyadh, said that gum infections in the elderly and tooth decay in children are among the most common diseases, and they are increasing. Noting that the recent statistics conducted on 21437 Saudi girls and boys, between the ages of 6-10 years, it was found that approximately 81% of male children and 78% of females have at least one age with decay in each of them.
She added: Tooth decay and gum infections are 100% preventable diseases, and it is clear that the main cause of tooth decay and gum infections is a lack of awareness among members of society about how to prevent it, and the need to take care of oral hygiene and brush the teeth in the correct way.
Al-Waili pointed out that oral and dental care begins at the start of the first "browning" age at six months of age. Every mother must be aware of the necessity of caring for her baby''s teeth, using a piece of clean gauze, and wiping the milky teeth to clean them, as there are currently in the pharmacies a very soft brush for babies, as well as a type that the mother can put in her finger and clean the child’s teeth twice in Today, especially before bed. This is to remove milk and food residue from the teeth.
Al-Waili stressed the need to prevent the child from milk during sleep. This is due to the bad and basic effect of this habit on the occurrence of dental caries in infants. Also, one of the basics of getting a child used to brushing teeth is to remove leftovers at least twice a day, especially before bed. The quality of unhealthy food and the increase in carbohydrates (carbohydrates and starches) and remaining on the teeth for a period exceeding twenty minutes increase the possibility of tooth decay.
Dr. Hessa pointed out that the Ministry of Health, represented in the Department of Dentistry in Riyadh Health, is conducting intensive awareness programs on how to take care of oral and dental health in the correct way, in schools for male and female students and parents as well. Indicating that the brush, putty and dental floss, in addition to the miswak, are necessary to maintain oral hygiene and prevent tooth decay, the most important of which is miswak as in the hadith of our noble Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace: “Miswak is a mouth disinfectant that is pleasing to the Lord.”
For its part, the health affairs in the Riyadh region intends to launch a scientific forum on the sidelines of the sixth unified Gulf week to promote oral and dental health tomorrow morning, under the auspices of the Minister of Health, and in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Health, as well as doctors and health practitioners, in addition to holding medical courses and an awareness exhibition, which embraces school students Over a period of 3 days, in the conference headquarters in the "unique" conference hall north of Riyadh, under the auspices of the media "previously".
