homeless people
Dr. Rashad Al-Senussi, a consultant psychiatrist at Jazan University, warned of the danger of sexual exploitation and death that stalked the homeless in the streets of psychiatric patients due to the mental disorders they suffer, explaining that they pose a grave danger to others, when they are under the influence of "the drug", as happened in the known issue With "Abu spoon." Al-Senussi told Al-Sabq: There are psychiatric patients who do not have any shelter. They roam the streets, and most suffer from severe psychotic illnesses, such as schizophrenia and above-average mental impairment. He explained that this category of patients is at risk, because the mental disorders they have make them vulnerable to physical and sexual exploitation, diseases and their complications, car accidents, and other problems.
He continued: Whoever is a psychiatrist is a danger to others, only a few of them, and this is contrary to what many believe, and this group may get harm from others, when they are under the influence of drugs, in addition to their mental illness.
Al-Senussi explained: From my experience during the past years, I think that this group in our society is deprived of receiving the necessary care. He explained that until now, the appropriate mechanism has not been found to contain and assist them, and he said: I know that there are serious attempts to find appropriate programs for them by the Social Affairs and the Ministry of Health, but they have not been completed, and have not been fully implemented so far.
He said that psychiatric patients do not need long sleep in psychiatric hospitals, but they need social and nursing care and some medical supervision when necessary. Al-Senussi criticized some of the positions of some families, and said: There are, unfortunately, a large shortening of the families of some of these patients, and this shortening is currently increasing, especially in light of the new social conditions in which there is less support, family bonding and a sense of responsibility towards them.
The incident of the murder of an Indian national by a young man in the third decade of last week, which took place in the Al-Suwaidi neighborhood, south of Riyadh, known to the media as the “Abu Spatula” issue, had sparked widespread controversy and a wave of criticism, which affected government agencies, on the pretext of failure to perform their work Towards those known as the "homeless" who are psychopaths, before the Ministries of Social Affairs and Health deviate from their silence, in order to thwart the accusations between each other regarding the responsibility of each of them towards those like "Abu Mabtaba".
