A Saudi medical team headed by a consultant cardiologist and cardiac catheterization in King Abdulaziz Medical City at the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh, Dr. Muhammad Bulgith Al-Bariqi and Dr. Abdullah Al-Shehab from the United Arab Emirates University, succeeded in implanting new stents for an Arab patient in his 60s.

According to the newspaper "Sabq", the patient was suffering from a narrowing of three coronary arteries, before he underwent the surgery, which was transferred directly to the attendees at the third Dubai Coronary Artery Disease Conference.

Dr. Al-Barqi said: "This complex operation has discouraged the patient from performing the open heart surgery surgically through arterial grafts, as stents were used with a new technology applied for the first time in the Arabian Gulf.

A number of attendees, led by Professor Robot Giles and Professor Dodak, praised the success of the operation, which was broadcast live from Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah.
