A medical team performs two operations to treat two complex cases of the aorta at the King Fahd Center for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery at King Saud University Dr. Turki bin Bakr Al Bakr Riyadh-Abdulrahman Al-Mansour The medical team for cardiac surgery at the King Fahd Center for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery at King Saud University conducted two internationally distinguished operations to treat two cases Two complexes of the aorta.

The head of the surgical team, Dr. Turki bin Bakr Al Bakr, stated that the first case was a 34-year-old patient after suffering a heart attack and medical examinations showed that he suffers from weakness in the heart muscle with blockage in the anterior coronary artery and enlargement of all coronary arteries Other. After a chest CT scan, it was found that the patient also suffers from severe atrophy and narrowing of the ascending aorta and part of the arch artery.

By the grace of God, the surgical team made a connection to the anterior coronary artery and changed the root of the aorta, the ascending aorta and part of the arch artery, which required stopping the blood circulation and reducing the patient''s temperature to 18 degrees Celsius. After the operation ended, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit for two days and then spent another five days in the cardiac surgery ward, leaving the hospital in good health.

The second case was a 60-year-old patient who was suffering from an enlarged ascending aorta and part of the arch artery, and the size of the ascending aorta was 7 centimeters, which could expose her to sudden death as a result of a burst or dissection of the aorta, and the patient underwent a change of the ascending aorta And part of the arch artery with the suspension of blood circulation. This operation was performed through a small incision at the top of the sternum in order to facilitate the recovery of the patient after the operation by reducing pain, which helps in breathing properly and reduces the possibility of complications in the lungs. This is the first time that such operations are performed in the Middle East through a small incision in the chest. The patient left the hospital after seven days in perfect condition.

Dr. Turki Al-Bakr stated that aorta surgery is one of the most advanced surgeries in the world. Therefore, the King Fahd Center for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery at King Saud University, and as part of its interest in this type of surgery, sent it to study this specialty at Cleveland Hospital and Clinic Ohio in the United States of America, where it conducted intensive training on these surgeries for two years after completing six years in training heart surgery in Canada .

Since the beginning of his work in the center and within one year, he performed more than twenty scheduled operations for aortic artery surgery, all of which have been successful, thank God.
