health facilities ... and the culture of perfection is absent
The head of the health group team at the Saudi Council for Quality in the Western Region, Dr. Nashat Anwar Al-Nafouri, confirmed that the recognition by international bodies specialized in health services of 66 Saudi health facilities between hospitals and laboratories.
And blood preparation centers, compared to 59 facilities with the same recognition in the Middle East. It indicates that the health facilities in Saudi Arabia are proactive in obtaining international recognition, but these confessions have not been accompanied by a development in the culture of perfection, and he called for a fundamental and realistic stance to build and support the clear features of the pillars of the culture of perfection in health services, and focus on the health team integration system.
He commented: "Have confession certificates banned or even reduced medical errors and health offenses that still top the pages of newspapers and magazines, and raise cases in the corridors of the courts," pointing out that the case is not a certificate of recognition as much as it is a culture of professionalism. He considered that linking quality with international recognition contradicts the culture of perfection, especially when the improvement processes intensify the preparation times for certificates only, or their renewal.
He pointed out that the members of the Health Group of the Saudi Council for Quality in the Western Region have devoted their mission since the establishment of the group in 2003, to spread the culture of perfection in health services, exchange knowledge through a set of professional awareness activities and participate in scientific and practical meetings locally, regionally and internationally.
Al-Nafouri explained that one of the tangible positive aspects of the practice of preparing for international recognition certificates is the emergence of a leadership generation that believes in mastery as a culture and improvement as a message, to reformulate the health services system on the foundations and concepts of institutional excellence.
He indicated that these recognitions contributed positively to the executive leaders ’adoption of the concept of quality as a road map, leading to long-term institutional excellence.
He mentioned that talking about quality in the health sectors was until close to the wishful thinking, as a reference to its low level due to its assignment to a number of administrative employees as additional work to their basic health tasks, "and they view it as a burden on them."
He believed that the investment in building a culture of perfection and excellence is much higher than the excessive spending of recognition requirements, calling on all recognition bodies to support research work to study the effect of their certificates in pushing the process of continuous improvement, development and advancement of professional behavior and social responsibility.
He indicated that the experiences revealed that the establishments in the major industrialized countries that have exhausted their human cadres to apply the criteria for multiple recognition to obtain international certificates only, not only lost the loyalty of the beneficiaries of their services, but also exceeded them to inspect their workers to other establishments that adopted the institutional excellence approach and invested in their human cadres in a manner. Mutual.
He stated that the members of the health group raised many issues, the most important of which was the issue of publicizing patients ’rights and duties, the issue of the powers and responsibilities of health service providers, the issue of the integrated health team instead of focusing on the treating doctor only, and the issue of international quality systems and its multiple-use tools in health fields such as the Sigma system. "Six Sigma" and "Balanced Scorecard".
He pointed out that the group discussed the topic of the ideal health environment, the axis of occupational safety and infection control, the axis of communication with the community and students wishing to study health sciences to support the concept of labor market needs, in addition to the axis of international recognition certificates for health facilities services such as CAP, Qmentum JCI »AABB ACHSI» and medicine axis And the law, radio and press interviews.
