is the effectiveness of applying the institutional excellence approach and continuous improvement in health services, not just quality accreditation
Dr. Nashat Al-Nafouri, executive member of the Saudi Council for Quality in the Western Region, explained that there are questions that still confuse and confuse many researchers of quality and institutional excellence when entering many hospitals and health facilities now, where the researcher sees boundless visions. Or the pioneers or among the pioneers, although with just a simple question to the reception worker about the location of a department in the facility, you find that he does not know his place or stumbles in directing you to him, where is the quality, its applications, accreditations and its standards, or the leadership qualities in this establishment and the most important thing is where the loyalty to this facility is the owner of the house knows all Its corners, entrances and exits. Field studies have proven that more than 75% of visitors begin to form an initial impression of the facility from the moment of entry.
In fact, Al-Nafouri added that health facilities have no problem with adopting quality as there are many health facilities that have international quality accreditation, there are 23 health facilities in the Kingdom out of 53 health facilities in the Middle East, i.e. 43% that are accredited by the American JCI and 17 laboratories In the Kingdom from 22 laboratories in the Middle East, that is, at a rate of 77%, who obtained the accreditation of the American College of Pathology (CAP) and 12 blood banks from 13 blood banks in the Middle East, i.e. 92% obtained the accreditation of the American Blood Banks Association (AABB) and 8 health facilities that obtained Canadian accreditation from 12 facilities In the Middle East, at a rate of 67%, and one facility with Australian accreditation, in addition to many ISO-certified establishments, however, medical errors are still an obsession for health services customers and leaders. Medical errors are not limited to the responsibility of the doctor only, but extend to the leadership of any health facility adopting a unified work message and a comprehensive and integrated system based on the concepts and foundations of institutional excellence. The road map for excellence begins with a tangible leadership reality of the values and ideals that draw the culture of the enterprise through its development path and an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, incentives and places of risk to fill the gaps based on the market need and the requirements of external and internal customers and future generations within a strategy and policy with short and long-term goals and measuring the results of the main performance and employees And customers and society with the radical integration of the concept of partnerships and resources in the enablers of excellence and focus on the principle of social responsibility. Quality systems and their tools help in building processes and defining enabling areas, but excellence is a journey of leadership and creativity, especially since the industrial health era based on the absolute focus on specialized facilities \ "\" Secondary or Tertiary Care is disappearing in all health systems of developed countries to be replaced by built health systems The primary health needs of the individual, informatics, and continuous improvement of all services by the door of the facility to the home follow-up. The goal of the health group of the Saudi Council for Quality as a professional, voluntary and non-profit group, and through the Medicine and Law Forum in its second session, is to introduce the continuous culture of quality and its impact on excellence in health services by introducing the concept of excellence and displaying models of local, regional and global excellence awards such as the European model and reviewing the experience of the Directorate of Health Affairs In Taif Governorate, in winning the Taif Award for Excellence in Governmental Performance, where members of the Saudi Council in the Western Region participated in the evaluation phase.
