The Fifth National Quality Week continued its activities today with a meeting on the Quality in Health Group, in the presence of the President of the National Council for Quality in the Western Region, President of the Middle East International Society for Quality, Dr. Ayed Al-Omari, and more than (100) specialists and experts from the health sectors interested in quality applications, in the lecture hall of the National Society Jeddah Blood Charity.
The executive member of the Saudi Council for Quality in the Western Region, head of the Quality Group in Health, Dr. Nashat Al-Nafouri, explained that the recognition of (66) Saudi health facilities among hospitals, laboratories and blood preparation centers, compared to 59 establishments that obtained the same recognitions in The Middle East region, confirms that health facilities in Saudi Arabia are proactive in obtaining international recognition, but these recognition have not been accompanied by a development in the culture of perfection.
Dr. Al-Nafouri pointed out that recognition certificates or awards did not reduce medical errors and health violations that still top the pages of newspapers and magazines, and raise cases in the corridors of the courts, pointing out that the case is not a certificate of recognition as much as it is a culture of professionalism.
Dr. Al-Nafouri considered that linking quality with international recognition contradicts the culture of perfection, especially when the improvement processes intensify the preparation times for certificates only or renew them, pointing out that the members of the Health Group of the Saudi Council for Quality in the Western Region have dedicated their mission since the establishment of the group to spread the culture of perfection in health services, and exchange Knowledge through a set of professional awareness activities and participation in scientific and practical meetings locally, regionally and internationally.
He explained that among the tangible positive aspects of the practice of preparing for international recognition certificates is the emergence of a leadership generation that believes in mastery as a culture and improvement as a message, to reformulate the health services system on the foundations and concepts of institutional excellence.
He indicated that these recognitions contributed positively to the executive leaders ’adoption of the concept of quality as a road map, leading to long-term institutional excellence.
