testicle in children
A consultant and head of the pediatric surgery department at King Abdullah Hospital in Bisha, Dr. Abdul Rahman Muhammad Al-Ma’awi stressed the necessity of surgical intervention to avoid complications that may result from the presence of a “suspended testicle” problem in male children, including complications of testicular wrapping or fertility problems and the appearance of tumors. “The suspended testicle” is one of the problems in the testicles, such as the absence of one or both of them in the abdomen, or their presence in a non-normal location in the scrotum. ”He added:“ The true cause of such cases is unknown. But there are some factors associated with it, such as premature birth, less than normal baby weight, family history and surgical treatment. "
And Abizaid: "The testicles are formed inside the abdomen cavity" Abdominal cavity "in the course of the development of the fetus during pregnancy and then leave their place gradually during the last two months of the development of the fetus in the natural pregnancy, and cross through a tube-like passage into the groin" groin " They are concentrated inside the scrotum. "
He continued: "If the child suffers from a condition of the undescended testicle, then this means that the process of developing the testicle stopped at a certain stage of the aforementioned stages and it will not be possible to see or feel it, in the place where it is expected to be inside the scrotum."
Maawi denied that the suspended or migrating testicle was able to produce sperm Saying: "There are histological changes occurring in that testicle and in the tissues of the testicle itself, which begins after reaching the age of about a year and a half. It is preferable to carry out fixations of the testicle in its natural place in childhood, because the temperature in the scrotum is half and half the temperature inside the abdomen. Or two degrees Celsius, and the testicle needs this degree to function normally. "
The consultant attributed the ion of the ideal timing in which the child can undergo such surgery to several factors, such as the child''s general health and the expected complexity of this surgery, and he said: "It is almost certain that the surgeon recommend this surgery after the child completes six months of age because performing a procedure This process at an early age reduces the risk and prevents complications and complications at a later age.
"Al-Maawi" added: "The repair of the phenomenon of the suspended testicle is carried out by lowering it into the scrotum during the surgery, then the surgeon pulls the suspended testicle toward the scrotum, then fixes it in its place."
And he added: "This process generally requires opening a few small incisions, and it can be done using laparoscopic methods such as laparoscopic surgery."
He pointed out that the testicle may suffer in certain cases from a defect in the proper development, or that it has an unusual tissue, or dead tissue, where the surgeon in this case removes the testicle tissue in such cases.
In the event that the child suffers from inguinal hernia, in addition to the hanging testicle, hernia can be repaired in this case through the surgery itself.
It is noteworthy that Dr. "Al-Maawi" holds the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Jordanian Board in Surgery and the French Institute of Endoscopic Surgery And he has cases published in scientific journals related to the directing of 300 cases during the past four years.
