Breast lumps are a common medical condition that affects millions of women each year. Some of these lumps can be cancerous. A doctor may recommend surgical removal of breast cancer. The decision to perform this operation or not to perform it is up to the patient herself. No one knows for sure what causes breast cancer. If it turns out that the mass in the breast is cancerous, treatment may be surgical, radiological, chemical, hormonal, or a combination of some of these methods together. Most breast cancers are removed by surgery, which may include lumpectomy, partial or complete mastectomy, modified radical mastectomy, or radical mastectomy. After the surgery ends, the patient is transferred to the recovery room, then to a regular room in the hospital. The patient returns home after a few days, depending on the extent of her health improvement. Additional treatments may be required, depending on the results of the histopathology and other tests.
