circular magnets in Al-Ahsa
After the success of God Almighty, a surgical intervention at the Maternity and Children Hospital in Al-Ahsa led by the Saudi consultant doctor - Muhammad Al-Mughanem saved the life of a child, after he swallowed 17 small circular magnets, and his guts were cut because of it, as the medical team was able to perform an urgent surgery with the help of the endoscope
Consultant pediatric surgeon Dr. Muhammad bin Omar Al-Mughannam confirmed that urgent intervention and correct diagnosis of a number of similar cases contributed to saving their lives.
Among these cases was a two-year-old child, when his family brought him to the hospital, and he was unable to stop crying from the severity of pain in his stomach, which required constant reflux and flatulence.
Dr. Al-Mughannam indicated that the necessary examinations and x-rays were carried out, as it was found that he had swallowed 17 circular magnets.
He explained that the child underwent a difficult surgery using innovative laparoscopic techniques, but we were surprised during the operation that some of his intestines were damaged and punctured, because the magnets were attached to each other inside his guts, which forced us to remove and sew them with the help of the endoscope after removing 17 circular magnets, indicating that the operation was successful, and the child is his condition Now good.
He reported that these magnetic games are characterized by a great force of attraction to each other, and a complex problem may occur, and it is considered the most dangerous when swallowed, and may cause parts of the intestine to stick together, and lead to serious injuries to the digestive system
Here, Dr. Muhammed Al-Mughannam called for children to be monitored, to choose appropriate toys for their children, and to ensure that children are prevented from acquiring the magnetic beads game, to avoid their ingestion, as it causes gastric and intestinal perforations and obstructions, requiring surgical intervention, and their subjection to a difficult process.
