integrity of the kidneys during Ramadan
A consultant specializing in urology has given important advice to maintain the integrity of the kidneys and prevent them from suffering damage resulting from fasting during the month of Ramadan, and showed the negative impact on them by taking painkillers and sedatives.
Dr. Ali bin Mahfouz said that when the amount of fluid decreases in the body, it begins to preserve the fluids in it, so the kidneys begin to reduce fluid secretions and excrete amounts of toxins in the body.
Drink adequate amounts of water
"Ibn Mahfouz" added in his interview with the "Zawaya Al-Zeer" program on the "Al-Risala" channel, that care must be taken to drink an adequate amount of water, and not to take diuretics except at breakfast time, and to avoid consuming them after the pre-dawn.
Ibn Mahfouz explained that diuretics increase the process of removing fluids from the body in order to relax the lungs, the heart and the rest of the organs, and eating them after the pre-dawn meal, the body loses a large amount of fluid and does not replace it during long hours of fasting by drinking water that harms the kidneys.
Warning about the danger of sedatives and analgesics
He pointed out that sedatives and analgesics if taken in heavy doses harm the kidneys, and if they are taken for long periods, they may cause a person to have kidney failure, indicating that the sedative works to prevent blood from reaching the affected organ to relieve pain, and thus the blood does not reach the kidneys, and the pain must be treated instead of continuing to take Analgesics.
He advised to be keen on exercising during the month of Ramadan, noting that sport is part of everything that helps in fortifying the health of men and women, and is also beneficial for all parts of the body.
