and 3 methods of treatment

Many children suffer from the problem of caries in the front teeth, and some of them may completely erode, but some families do not take this problem with the required seriousness, arguing that these teeth are brown and will fall out to be replaced by permanent teeth, and therefore there is no need to spend time and effort in treating them, as long as It will one day be replaced by another.

Dr. Bassem Ibrahim, a dental specialist at the Egyptian Ministry of Health, warns of the danger of this misconception prevalent in some families, which has negative current and future effects.

Dr. Bassem told Al-Ain News, "The current effects are the child''s loss of appetite and his inability to eat some of the nutrients needed to build the body, due to dental pain."

He added, "As for the future effects, they are related to the permanent teeth that families rely on to save their children, as the presence of milk teeth helps to preserve the spaces between the teeth until the permanent emergence, and then the infection of caries that may lead to their removal, which affects this function."

In order for families to avoid this problem, Dr. Bassem advises prevention that protects the child from its occurrence, and it consists of 4 tips:

1- The child''s food should be balanced, because it is devoid of useful elements that contain calcium, phosphorous and iron, making it vulnerable to the problem.

2- Reducing the consumption of sweets and chocolate frequently between meals.

3- Reducing the consumption of carbohydrates such as rice, pasta and potatoes.

4- The necessity of making sure that the general structure of the child’s body is strong, and paying attention to brushing the teeth twice a day and not leaving food crumbs between the teeth.

Dr. Bassem stresses that adhering to these tips protects the child from decay, but at the same time confirms that the problem is not difficult and has a cure, as long as the decay is not large, warning against the ease of some families resorting to extracting the teeth affected by decay, without regard to its degree.

He continues, "If the tooth is healthy and the decay is simple, it can be treated with some simple home methods, but in the case of severe decay and difficulty maintaining the tooth, extraction is the solution."

As for treatment methods in the event of simple caries, the dental therapist points to 3 methods that can be implemented at home, including the use of salt in treating the affected tooth, due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, and this is done by placing a teaspoon of table salt in a cup of warm water, then Take a little water and leave it in the mouth for one minute, focusing on the affected tooth, and this is performed 3 times a day, until the symptoms disappear.

As for the second method, it depends on making a paste with which the gums are massaged, by mixing half a teaspoon of salt and lemon juice or mustard oil, and then gargling with warm water.

Dr. Bassem concludes by the third method, which is the use of cloves, for what is known as an anti-inflammatory and a natural antibacterial, where 3 s of clove oil are diluted with a quarter of a spoonful of sesame seed oil, then those s are placed on a medical cotton and the affected tooth is treated with it, and the work is repeated That''s right before bed.
