Dr. Hammam Bahamam, assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University, obtained a US patent for a “dental impression”.
The importance of the new invention is to prevent the doctor from being injured if the patient suddenly closes his mouth, as well as to keep the holder in place.
Bahamam, who received the King Abdulaziz Medal of the third degree, said in an intervention with Al-Ekhbariya channel that the invention is a mold with materials used to take a three-dimensional copy identical to the position of the teeth and the oral cavity.
He continued, that in the case of taking the edition for the teeth of children or people with special needs, the doctor faces the sudden closure of the teeth by some patients, which results in the doctor’s injury or transmission of infection to him, and the invention came to maintain the stability of the holder and prevent the doctor from being injured.
Regarding the mechanism of assisting the invention for doctors, Bahamam said that the invention guarantees the assistance of many specialties in dentistry, such as orthodontic specialties, dental replacement procedures, and determining the distances of the jaws, pointing to communication with the concerned authorities regarding the invention.
On another medical issue, Bahamam said that the child''s appetite is affected by the child''s development, such as the stage of teething, his psychological state, or the presence of pathological causes such as strikes related to the digestive system.
