campaign to donate stem cells
The Oncology Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital, Research Center, Jeddah Branch, will start a campaign to donate stem cells, next Sunday from 12 to 15 November, from nine in the morning to one in the afternoon, in the main hospital building, the first floor, the northern balcony.
This was stated by Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Nayef Al-Juhani, adding that in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia there are thousands of patients with bone marrow diseases, which include blood tumors that are resistant to chemotherapy or diseases or failure of bone marrow or patients with genetic blood diseases such as sickle cell anemia and Mediterranean anemia, Or hereditary immunodeficiency diseases and genetic diseases, which reduce the chances of patients staying alive.
He said that most of these cases, if not all of them need stem cell transplantation, then it may be the only cure and scientifically proven for them to save their lives, God willing and will.
It is mentioned that in the Kingdom more than 30% of adults and 60% of children with one of these diseases, there may not be a matching person from their brothers or sisters who have the same matching cell type, so it is the role of donors to save the lives of these patients with stem cells in compliance with the saying of God Almighty Glory (and whoever revives it is as if it revived all people).
