«Fahd Medical» for the fifth year
A medical team in King Fahd Medical City was able to remove a sample from a tumor deep inside the brain of a woman in her fifties, using robotic technology applied for the first time in the Kingdom, as it is one of the complex operations associated with brain tumors. A consultant neurosurgeon and nervous system oncologist, head of the Department of Neurosurgery at King Fahd Medical City, Dr.Ahmed Lari explained that the operation was carried out by means of a robotic device to remove a sample from a tumor deep inside the brain, as the sample tests showed that it is of the benign type, which is necessary to follow it continuously without need. To the complete eradication of the tumor, indicating the success of the operation, the stability of the patient''s condition and her exit from the city in good health.
Dr. Larry added that this operation is considered the first in the Kingdom, as brain surgeries using a robot device are characterized by the finest accuracy in taking the sample with the least possible risk. At home the next day immediately, while conventional intervention is less precise and more prone to risks and side complications.
The consultant neurosurgeon and nervous system oncologist confirmed that the King Fahd Medical City will expand in the near future in the use of robots in performing more complex brain surgeries to treat and diagnose epilepsy diseases, movement disorders, tumors and pain control.
It is worth noting that the operation was carried out by Saudi doctors, including Dr. Ahmed Larry, Dr. Adel Al-Zahrani, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Shardan.
